NYPD unveils two new rape cases against rap mogul Russell Simmons

The NYPD is investigating two new rape allegations against rap mogul Russell Simmons.

The department confirmed that two women came forward in December, claiming that the Def Jam co-founder raped them more than 25 years ago.

Special victims squad detectives are preparing cases for the district attorney.

"The NYPD has received information regarding allegations involving Russell Simmons in the N.Y.C. area, and our detectives are in the process of reviewing that information," an NYPD spokeswoman said in a statement.

According to TMZ, one of the women is Sherri Hines, who during a December taping of "Megyn Kelly Today," publicly claimed that Simmons raped her.

During her interview, Hines claimed Simmons invited her to his New York office after a night out in 1983 and pinned her down as soon as they arrived.

The second woman claims that Simmons raped her at his Manhattan home after they went on a date in 1991. The woman was 32 at the time. She claimed Simmons tried to take off her dress as they sat on a couch, then pushed her down and raped her.

Simmons is currently facing accusations of rape or sexual assault from at least a dozen women.

He has repeatedly denied the accusations against him by claiming he's dedicating himself to spiritual learning and healing.
