NYPD Union Calls Out NYC Leaders For Anti-Police Policies

NYPD newyork police department

The Sergeants Benevolent Association of the NYPD has issued a scathing letter condemning far-left Democratic leaders in New York City for their anti-police and soft-on-crime policies. The letter specifically addressed the upcoming funeral of Officer Jonathan Diller, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty.

Officer Diller, a 31-year-old father, was fatally shot by a violent ex-convict with a history of 21 prior arrests. The SBA President, Vincent Vallelong, expressed frustration at the prospect of city politicians attending Diller's funeral for what he deemed as insincere gestures and photo opportunities.

Former President Trump is expected to attend Diller's wake, showing his support for the fallen officer's family and colleagues. Vallelong criticized city officials who have advocated for defunding the police and implementing lenient criminal justice measures while offering condolences on social media.

Vallelong singled out City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, accusing them of harboring disdain for law enforcement and lacking appreciation for the sacrifices made by officers like Diller.

The letter also criticized prosecutors and city officials for contributing to the breakdown of public safety in New York City. The incident that led to Officer Diller's death involved a suspect with a significant criminal record, highlighting systemic failures in the criminal justice system.

The SBA's letter called for accountability and scrutiny of officials who have undermined public safety initiatives and advocated for policies that endanger both officers and civilians. The union's strong stance reflects the deep-seated tensions between law enforcement and political leaders in the city.

As the community mourns the loss of Officer Diller, the call for responsible governance and support for law enforcement remains at the forefront of the debate surrounding public safety in New York City.
