NY Giants sign former Ohio State wide receiver Austin Mack from practice squad

We’ve got another former Ohio State player now on an active NFL roster. The New York Giants announced that wide receiver Austin Mack has been signed from the practice squad Tuesday.

Mack was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Giants after the 2020 NFL Draft, but did not originally make the active roster. Instead, he was signed to the practice team where he has been after all the NFL rosters were cut down to the final 53-man version.

But it was apparent that Mack impressed during minicamp and many had him projected to make the team. It was not meant to be, but by the Giants signing him to a deal, they still had access to him. It now appears as though the team is ready to see what he can do.

To make room for Mack, the Giants released wide receiver Damion Ratley. It’s unclear just how much Mack will be used, but it’ll be fun to find out next when he travels to Washington to face former Ohio State teammates Chase Young, Terry McLaurin.
