Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang is set to hold meetings with members of Congress in Washington this week to discuss the future of artificial intelligence and America’s position in the global AI race.

Jensen Huang Heads to Capitol Hill for AI Policy Talks

According to an Nvidia spokesperson, Huang will meet with both Republican and Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill to discuss “American leadership in AI, including leading in open source,” Politico reported on Monday.

The spokesperson also said Huang plans to highlight Nvidia’s commitment to building AI infrastructure in the U.S., pointing to the company’s pledge to produce up to $500 billion worth of AI infrastructure domestically.

Meeting Comes Amid Growing AI Security Debate

Huang is scheduled to meet Tuesday with Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Warner has voiced concerns about AI-related security risks following last week’s reported autonomous cyberattack involving OpenAI.

Warner’s office confirmed the meeting, the report said.

The discussions come as policymakers increasingly weigh how to balance AI innovation with national security, particularly as competition with China and concerns over advanced AI systems continue to shape the debate in Washington.

Jensen Huang Defends Open-Source AI

Ahead of the meetings, Huang reiterated his support for open-source AI models in a post on X.

“Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty,” Huang wrote.

His comments add Nvidia’s voice to an increasingly prominent policy debate over whether open AI models improve innovation and security or create new risks by making advanced technology more widely accessible.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is also expected to meet separately with Warner.

The meetings follow OpenAI’s announcement earlier Monday that it is in discussions with Nvidia on a data center project.

Price Action: Nvidia shares closed Monday at $196.51, down 4.99% and slipped another 0.19% to $196.13 in after-hours trading, according to Benzinga Pro.

According to Benzinga Edge Rankings, Nvidia scores in the 98th percentile for Growth and maintains positive short, medium and long-term price trend ratings.
