Nursing home residents welcomed some very special visitors for Christmas treats

Residents at Woodlands Nursing home in Livingston enjoyed some wonderful treats in the run-up to Christmas.

Bathgate Youth Band braved heavy rain and cold temperatures to put on a brilliant performance for residents and staff rallied together to ensure they were able to see and hear the performance, both in the lounges and from rooms.

Activities coordinator Daniel Heath said: “It was a real boost for the morale of residents and staff, and a lovely festive treat after a challenging year. We very much hope that they will come back soon. They are welcome any time.”

The home also held its first Therapet session, kindly made possible by Mel Hughes from Canine Concern Scotland.

Daniel continued: “Suffice to say it went very well indeed! Peter Wilson and Ruby were a smash hit with our residents and we cannot wait to have them back at the home.

“Special thanks to Ann Colvin for her positive and tireless efforts to promote exercise and movement for the residents here at Woodlands.

“Ann has been a fixture here for quite some time and her enthusiasm and dedication are second to none. Ann is a firm favourite with our residents and we are both lucky and grateful to have her come and spend time with our residents.

“I’ll be moving to Randolph Hill, Kirk Lane, Livingston Village in the New Year and want to give my thanks to the residents, the care staff, kitchen staff, house-keeping, maintenance and to the families for their overwhelming support.

“It has been a real team effort (staff, residents, and families). I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them! I’d very much like to emphasis it’s a team effort.”
