Nursery undergoes deep clean after cluster of COVID cases are discovered

A primary school nursery in Perth and Kinross has undergone a deep clean after a cluster of COVID-19 cases were discovered.

However, Milnathort Primary nursery remains open to those who are not close contacts.

A Perth and Kinross Council spokesperson said: “Education and children’s services, (ECS), can confirm that there has been a small cluster of confirmed cases of COIVD-19 at Milnathort Primary School’s nursery.

“ECS staff are currently working with colleagues in public health, in line with local authority procedures and are following all related public health guidance.

“The nursery has undergone a deep clean and remains open to those who are not close contacts of the confirmed cases.”

Meanwhile, there has been a small drop in cases across Perth and Kinross in the past week.

Figures from Public Health Scotland show there were 55 cases at a rate of 36.2 per 100,000 between March 6 and March 12.

This compared with 58 cases and a rate of 38.2 per 100,000 the week before. The positive test rate stayed at two per cent.

Invergowrie and Blairgowrie are now the areas with the highest infection rate in the region.
