Nursery teacher, 26, hit and killed by lorry while on lunchtime walk

A nursery teacher was killed after she was struck by a lorry while on a lunchtime walk.

The family of Chloe Morrison are 'absolutely devastated' at the death of the 26-year-old.

Chloe had been out walking near Inverness at 1.10pm yesterday when she was hit by the lorry on an A road.

Chloe, who was from the village near Loch Ness, was confirmed dead at the scene, reports the Daily Record .

A statement from her family said: “We are absolutely devastated at the loss of our beloved Chloe.”

Members of the local community also shared their heartbreak at the news.

Gillian Bodie wrote on Facebook : "Omg devastated chloe was a wonderful nursery teacher. My heart goes out to her family."

Heather Gibb said: "Just cant get my head around this one, rest in peace chloe, love and strength being sent to all your family, love Jimmy, Heather and the girls."

Michelle Wooleey wrote: "RIP Chloe, I still cannot believe this has happened. Absolutely devastated much love to all of chloes family."

Louise Hendry added: "This is devastating to read, she worked at my sons nursery she was a wonderful nursery teacher and will be sorely missed, thoughts with her friends and family at this difficult time."

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Ewan Calder from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with all of Chloe Morrison’s family and friends and our inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

“We would ask any motorists or members of the public who were in the area and may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage and have not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible."
