Nursery children already benefitting from increased hours as West Dunbartonshire reach target

Nursery children are already benefitting from increased nursery hours in West Dunbartonshire.

Following a delay due to the pandemic, a new deadline of this August was set for all councils to implement 1140 hours for each three and four-year-old and eligible two-year-old.

But local tots are already getting the increased hours.

Education convener, Councillor Karen Conaghan said: “I am really pleased to see our implementation of 1140 hours completed ahead of time and I would like to thank everyone involved in delivering these new facilities.”

Work at the last of the remaining sites Dalreoch, Dalmonach and Gavinburn early learning and childcare centres is now complete and the centres are fully operational.

The council has successfully recruited 433 of the required 447 employees with a recruitment drive underway to ensure the final posts are filled by August.
