If you are one of the thousands of parents who has applied for their child to attend nursery in 2021 and are anxiously waiting to hear, you'll want to make note of these important dates.
The pre-school application process opened on January 7, 2021 and closed on January 29 for applications for this year's new admissions.
The Education Authority are currently making their way through the thousands of applications and nursery and pre-schools are making tough decisions on how many children they have spaces for.
The process works in two stages and those who fall within this year's target age group will be processed first. The process is open to target aged children born on or between 2 July 2017 and 1 July 2018. Also to underage children born between July 2 2018 and 1 July 2019.
If you are waiting to hear where your child has been accepted to, you'll want to take note of these dates:
28th April
- Notification of the outcome of your application (for children in the target age group)
- Stage two commences which includes processing of underage applications.
5 May
- Return of further preferences for an unplaced Stage 1 target age pres-school child
- Final date for submission of a new pre-school application (An application received at this stage for an underage child is treated as late, parents of an underage child can apply to a nursery school/nursery unit only)
10th June
- Notification of the outcome of your application.
