Nurse spat at by angry thug as she visited sick patient at home

Police are hunting a thug who spat at a district nurse in a row about her parking.

The yob lost the plot at the 56-year-old as she visited a patient.

The drama is understood to have unfolded when the man criticised the medic's parking.

The incident in Tannahill Crescent, Johnstone took a nasty turn when he became irate, took aim and spat at her, the Paisley Daily Express reports.

Fortunately it didn't land.

Now police have appealed to the public to help identify the thug, who struck at 9am on Friday morning.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The male verbally abused her before spitting at her.

"This was a disgusting attack on a frontline key worker carrying out a vital role in our community.

"To spit at someone at any time is unacceptable, but to spit at a health worker during the Covid-19 pandemic will simply not be tolerated.

She added: "We are carrying out a range of enquiries in an effort to identify the suspect and we would urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time to think back and consider whether they saw anything which may be useful to our investigation.

"We will also be checking CCTV footage in the area."

The deadly Covid-19 virus can be transmitted from people who have it to others who are in close contact through respiratory droplets, by direct contact with infected persons or by contact with contaminated objects and surfaces.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
