Nurse placed on leave for bragging on TikTok about not wearing a mask

A nurse has been placed on administrative after she posted a TikTok bragging about not wearing a mask or social distancing with her children.

The nurse, from Oregon, US, was seen in a TikTok video recreating the dialogue from a scene in the Christmas movie 'The Grinch'.

Wearing scrubs, the nurse compared her coworkers to the character Cindy Lou, with the caption: “When my coworkers find out I still travel, don’t wear a mask when I’m out and let my kids have play dates.”

But, despite the original post being deleted, a "duet" of the TikTok remains online.

Users found out the nurses identity and then went onto alert her employer, Salem Health.

In a post on Saturday, the hospital thanked those who had reached out and said the nurse, whose name they did not reveal, had been "placed on administrative leave pending an investigation."

In the statement, they said that her actions showed a "cavalier disregard for the seriousness of this pandemic and her indifference towards physical distancing and masking outside of work."

They went on to add: "We want to thank those of you who brought this to our attention and assure you that we are taking this very seriously.

"This individual does not speak for Salem Health and has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation."

Many people commented on the statement calling for harsher action and for her to be fired immediately.

As of today, over 1/4 of a million Americans have died of coronavirus and the country has recorded 4 million cases in November alone.

Donald Trump has faced widespread criticism for his handling of the pandemic.

Many think this played a role in him failing to be reelected.
