Nurse makes emotional appeal after not seeing her eight-year-old son for weeks due to coronavirus

A Welsh nurse who hasn't seen her eight-year-old son for weeks has made an emotional appeal to the public.

Nikitta Jones, who works for Ysbyty Cwm Cynon in Mountain Ash, is pleading with people to stay at home to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Her son has been staying with her mother since the start of the outbreak to keep him safe.

Nikitta said: "This is just a short message to remind everybody why it is so important to stay at home.

"I have a little boy who is eight-years-old and he has been living with my mum for four weeks now.

"I won't see him until this is over. It's really important that we stay at home.

"Look after your family, but please help me look after my family by listening to the rule. It is very, very important."

Nikitta, who was holding back tears as she filed the message, added: "It's quite emotional because I haven't seen him for a long time, and I'm not going to see him for a while. This is really, really important. Thank you very much."

A spokeswoman for Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board said: "Nikitta, one of our many brilliant staff nurses, is separated from her family while she looks after someone else’s. ‬

"‪She and the rest of our nursing family need your help, and all you have to do is stay at home."
