Nurse is given Pitlochry's Citizen of the Year 2020 title

Janet Sorley has received the special recognition of being named Pitlochry’s Citizen of the Year.

The Rotary Club of Pitlochry presents the award annually to a member of the community who goes above and beyond.

Janet was honoured for her many years of dedicated service at the Atholl Medical Centre in the Highland Perthshire town.

She was described as: “One of those nurses who just knows how to deal with sensitive issues.”

She was also called “a wonderful nurse… always pleasant and goes above and beyond for many patients.”

As a result of the pandemic, the Rotary club was unable to make the presentation with all their members present.

However, a small group was able to meet Janet in early November and hand over the trophy together with a cheque for £200.

Once again RW Bell added in a further £200. Janet intends to give the total of £400 to Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance.
