Nuno reacts to the moment that left Wolves feeling 'upset' against Newcastle United

Wolves made a 'mistake' with how they set up their wall for Jacob Murphy's free-kick and Nuno admits his side were 'upset' after Newcastle United took full advantage.

The Magpies had limited Wolves to just two shots on target before Raul Jimenez fired the hosts in front with just 10 minutes to go at Molineux.

Although Newcastle were better defensively, after what happened the previous week against Manchester United, the black-and-whites did not offer much going forward until Callum Wilson won a free-kick in the 89th minute.

Wolves seemed to think that Miguel Almiron would take the set-piece with his left foot but it was Murphy who ultimately struck the ball with his right after noticing a gap in the Wolves' wall.

Having watched clips of Rui Patricio in the team hotel on the eve of the game, Murphy believed 'anything low and hard would catch the Wolves' goalkeeper out and the Newcastle player bent his free-kick around the wall and inside the post to level the score.

While Nuno acknowledged that Newcastle were 'very organised', the Wolves' boss was naturally 'disappointed' after his side 'made a mistake in the final moment of the game'.

“The ball cannot go in the short corner, we realise that," he said. "If it goes over the wall, we have to deal with that but the ball cannot go on that side of the goal. After the free-kick, we have to set up the wall correctly and avoid this situation.

“If it goes on the side of the goalkeeper, the goalkeeper should be there but the ball cannot go on the first post.

“We made a mistake on the set up of the wall and we conceded a goal. We were solid, we didn’t allow any chances to Newcastle so, on that part, we were positive but, of course, we were upset because we didn’t solve the problem.”
