Nuno Espirito Santo sacked by Spurs after just four months in charge

Spurs have sacked flop boss Nuno Espirito Santo after just four months in charge at the Londoners.

The former Wolves gaffer was axed following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at home on Saturday might.

Pressure had been mounting on the Portuguese following a miserable run of form and with his side sitting eighth in the English Premier League table.

And Daniel Levy decided to act following the defeat to the Red Devils who bounced back from their own hammering at the hands of Liverpool to stroll to victory on Tottenham’s own patch.

Antonio Conte is the early favourite to succeed the former Molineux boss, who took Scot Ian Cathro to Spurs as his assistant head coach, in London.

The Italian former Chelsea gaffer was most recently at Inter Milan and cold make a return to the Premier League.

Brighton gaffer Graham Potter and his assistant - former Hamilton Accies boss Billy Reid - have also been touted for the role.

Santo’s compatriot and former Roma gaffer Paul Fonseca is another in the running along ex- Celtic manager and current Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers, Eddie Howe and Roberto Martinez.
