Nuno Espirito Santo's key role in Leeds United transfer

Leeds United full-back Barry Douglas has revealed how his arrival at Elland Road came about.

The Scotland international joined Leeds in 2018 after achieving promotion with Wolverhampton Wanderers on a deal worth around £3m.

And in a Q and A on the club's Facebook, Douglas revealed how he found out about the opportunity to join Leeds, and why he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

"It was very fast to be honest," he said.

"I started pre-season with Wolves. There was a lot happening because it was obviously on the back of winning the Championship.

"It was a busy summer. There was all go and then I was just in pre-season and Nuno came and spoke to me and said 'look, this is the plan for the club moving forward and we have had an offer from Leeds and we are going to accept it. Ultimately it's up to you but this is where we are at'.

"So, I quickly made a decision, signed for Leeds and never looked back.

"It was a really big project, an ambitious project and a chance to hopefully achieve more success.

"It wasn't for the pandemic, who knows what we would be doing right not but hopefully we can take off where we left."
