Nuno Espirito Santo gets Tottenham verdict amid Harry Kane exit talk and told what team must do

Gary Neville believes that Tottenham will have a good season under Nuno Espirito Santo if they keep Harry Kane at the club.

The striker's future has been a major talking point over the past few months with Man City keen to lure him to the Etihad Stadium ahead of the transfer deadline.

Tottenham do not want to sell their main man and City now have limited time remaining to submit a bid that could potentially turn Daniel Levy's head.

Beating Pep Guardiola's team 1-0 on the opening weekend of the season with Kane absent from the matchday squad, Spurs followed up that fantastic result with another 1-0 win at Wolves courtesy of Dele Alli's early penalty.

Kane did indeed come on for the final 20 minutes at Molineux and all Tottenham fans will be hoping that it's not the last they see of him in a Spurs shirt.

Neville, speaking on Monday Night Football, does feel that keeping Kane beyond the transfer deadline is a must for Tottenham and is key to them having a successful season under Espirito Santo in the capital.

"I think that last week it suited them in some ways playing against Man City, a brilliant win," he said.

"It is a penalty. I talked about Dele Alli in the summer, he must have watched England at the Euros, watched Jack Grealish going to City for £100million and thought ‘where is my career going? This is my chance now to get my career back on track’.

"He’s got to get back on track, he’s had a good start to this season, Nuno has given him a chance.

"We know that Nuno is a very good manager, tactically he is very sound, his teams have been counter-attacking teams predominantly at Wolves and I think it will be interesting when they have to break things down at home.

"Big week ahead for Spurs with Harry Kane and all the noise around him, if they can get through that and keep Kane then they will have a good season."
