Nuno Espirito Santo confirms Tottenham injury against Pacos de Ferreira that 'doesn't look good'

Tottenham head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that Cameron Carter-Vickers twisted his ankle late on against Pacos de Ferreira.

Involved for Tottenham in pre-season after his return from a loan spell at Bournemouth, the United States international was handed a rare chance in the side for the team's Europa Conference League tie.

A total of 11 alterations from Sunday's win over Man City saw Carter-Vickers come in, with the Spurs academy graduate starting on the right of a back three alongside Cristian Romero and Ben Davies.

However, the 23-year-old was substituted off with three minutes remaining after picking up an injury issue.

Asked about the problem in his press conference ahead of Sunday's trip to Wolves, Espirito Santo revealed that the player did indeed sustain an ankle injury and it "doesn't look good".

"Not good. Unfortunately not good. He twisted his ankle. It doesn't look good," explained the 47-year-old.

When pressed on the severity of the issue, he added: "I don't know. The doctor is going to do a scan and all these things.

"It doesn't look good. This is the worst thing that could happen to us."

Espirito Santo also confirmed in his press conference that Joe Rodon won't be available for this Sunday's game at Wolves through injury.

The encounter at Molineux will see the head coach return to his former club for the first time since departing in May and he is aware that it will be a special occasion for him.

"It will be special. Of course it will be special," he said. "They were four years of hard work, four years that were amazing and the Wolves fans were so supportive, so good to us that it's only love and respect that I have for the club and for the fans, for the player there.

"For the staff because like I said it was four years of our life that we shared together."
