Nuno Espirito Santo can discover Tottenham's own Diogo Jota with Fabio Paratici transfer magic

Nuno Espirito Santo may look to take advantage of Tottenham Hotspur's new-found ability to operate in the Serie A transfer market this summer.

Fabio Paratici, Spurs' newly-appointed director of football, could prove to be an instrumental piece in Espirito Santo's chase for his first signing as Tottenham manager.

The former Juventus sporting director has been quick to get the ball rolling in north London and is understood to have begun talks with Bologna for the services of defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Defence is an area Spurs will be keen to strengthen this summer and Tomiyasu may not be the only one who arrives through the doors in that position.

While Paratici clearly has strong links across the Serie A market, there is no doubt himself and Espirito Santo may have one eye on the current European Championships, where a raft of talent has been on display for the last few weeks.

Here are three names who have impressed that could catch Tottenham's eye.

Mikkel Damsgaard

Mikkel Damsgaard has been in exceptional form for Denmark throughout the Euro 2020 campaign and has continuously lifted fans from their seats with his electrifying pace and ability to beat his opposite number.

The 21-year-old winger, who plays his club football in the Serie A for Sampdoria, has been central to Denmark’s success this summer, starting all but one game while scoring and assisting one a piece.

However, despite his valiant efforts under Kasper Hjulmand at Euro 2020, the Sampdoria president, Massimo Ferrero, revealed the club’s intentions regarding Damsgaard’s services.

Speaking in a press conference, Ferrero insisted that Damsgaard will not leave unless the right offer is made.

He said: “[Damsgaard] is not for sale. Either they bring something that makes [sporting director Carlo] Osti excited, or he won’t be sold.

“It’s no longer the same as before when one offer arrived, and we would sell the player.

“Now we want to make another stand. We want to keep the footballer, we want to enjoy him.”

Though, should Tottenham land the Danish winger’s signature he could prove to be a great option due to his versatility to operate across the front four.

He is an exciting young talent with raw pace and could be a breath of fresh air under Espirito Santo, who could utilise the Dane similar to how he used Diogo Jota at Wolves.

Milan Skriniar

Despite Slovakia not qualifying out of Group E at Euro 2020, Milan Skriniar showed what he could be capable of reproducing for Tottenham. The 26-year-old centre-back scored the decisive goal that saw Slovakia win their opening European Championship tie beating Poland 2-1.

Since the appointment of Paratici, the north London club are believed to have rekindled last summer's interest in Skriniar and enquired about the defender's services, reports Calciomercato.

Spurs' initial interest stemmed from Jose Mourinho's arrival at the club in 2019 after Skriniar had disclosed his admiration for the now AS Roma manager while he was a Manchester United.

Skriniar said in 2018, speaking to ESPN: "When some coach like Jose says that he is looking for a player like me or somebody else, it's always nice, but I don't know why these rumours continue.

"Even if Jose is one of the most famous, best, greatest coaches in the world, it's not something I think of because I'm playing for Inter and am happy here at Inter."

Roman Yaremchuk

Although not from the Serie A, this is an exciting striker that should be looked into by Spurs.

Roman Yaremchuk was a surprise star that emerged from Euro 2020 having spearheaded Ukraine into the Euro 2020 quarter-finals.

The 25-year-old striker scored twice and assisted once over five games for Andriy Shevchenko’s side and looks set to win a move away from KAA Gent having played himself into the shop window.

Yaremchuk, who is reportedly valued at £13million, has scored ten goals in 29 international appearances under the former Ballon d’Or winner and is poised to be sculpted into a leading European striker.

The Ukrainian talisman would not only be joining off the back of a great European Championships, but also a great domestic campaign in Belgium. Yaremchuk scored 17 goals and assisted six across 28 games in the Jupiler Pro League last season, while finishing seventh.

Standing at six foot two, the KAA Gent striker could be a great fit for Spurs, whether Harry Kane departs this summer or not. With a similar build to that of Spurs' captain and of Nuno’s former striker Raul Jimenez, Yaremchuk could prove to be the shrewd transfer Daniel Levy is searching for.
