Nuno Espirito Santo already facing Bryan Gil blow if Tottenham complete £21.6m transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are making moves in the summer transfer window.

Firstly, football.london revealed at the beginning of the week that Spurs are in advanced talks over a double deal for Atalanta pair Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero.

They would mark Nuno Espirito Santo' s first signings since being appointed Tottenham head coach as he looks to bolster a squad that finished seventh in the Premier League last season.

And a third arrival could soon be on the horizon with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that the north London outfit are close to finalising a deal for Sevilla attacking midfielder Bryan Gil.

Furthermore, it's claimed that it will be a swap deal that will see Erik Lamela, who is out of contract at Spurs next summer, move to Spain, with the La Liga outfit also set to receive €25million (£21.6m), plus add-ons.

Despite his tender years, Gil has earned plenty of plaudits in his homeland of Spain and has even caught the eye of national team manager Luis Enrique.

"I like him a lot. From the first talk I have had with him, I see him as very mature and very calm," Enrique said.

"I am now going to discover him in terms of football."

The Tottenham boss will also hope to discover Gil in terms of football if this transfer deal does get completed, although he might have to wait a while.

Whilst Euro 2020 and the Copa America have been completed, there's still one more football competition taking place this summer - and it's the delayed 2020 Olympic Games.

Gil has been named in the Spain squad and as a result, could miss the start of the new season at whichever club he's at.

As the event is pencilled in to get underway this week, and run to Sunday, August 8, it means Gil could miss all of Spurs' pre-season preparations if he was to seal a move.

Furthermore, given Tottenham's 2021/22 Premier League campaign starts on August 15 with a home game against Manchester City, if Spain go deep in the tournament then Gil could miss the first few weeks of the new season.

Players usually get time off after an international tournament and if Spain were to be involved in the gold medal match then the midfielder may not feature for the Spurs during the month of August.
