Nunchucks and large knives amongst haul of weapons found in Manchester home

A haul of imported weapons, including nunchucks and large knives, have been seized from a property in south Manchester.

The weapons were found by officers from Greater Manchester Police’s ‘problem solving team’ on Tuesday (September 1).

A picture shared by the force on several of its Facebook pages shows hunting knives, nunchucks and a flick knife within the haul of seized items.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of importation of prohibited weapons.

The action came after Border Force officers shared information with police about prohibited weapons being imported, GMP said.

A post on the GMP Fallowfield, Withington, Levenshulme & Burnage reads: “Today the #ProblemSolvingTeam conducted a warrant at an address following information received from Border Force that prohibited weapons were being imported.

“10 weapons seized in total and a Male adult arrested for importation of prohibited weapons.

“Ordering prohibited weapons is an criminal offence contrary to S.50 of the Customs and Excise Management Act and will lead to us knocking at your door.

“Help us keep knives off streets!”

The social media post mentions Operation Sycamore, which is GMP's response to tackling serious violent crime.

The operation has a particular focus on knife crime.
