Numerous former Dolphins drafted on first day of XFL Draft

Day one of the XFL’s league draft is in the books and numerous Miami Dolphins heard their names called through the first three ‘phases’. The XFL Draft has been split into five separate sections, the objective being to promote parity within the league and avoid certain teams becoming deficient in certain areas of the roster due to a run on talent.

It’s a unique idea, one that football fans don’t often get to see considering few leagues draft their entire leagues from the ground up. For former Dolphins, it was a day of promise, finding out where “home” would be in 2020 and getting word that another chance to play football was on the horizon.

Here are some of the former Dolphins who were drafted during yesterday’s XFL Draft action:

  • RB De’Veon Smith, Tampa Bay Vipers (3rd round of Skill phase)
  • OG Dallas Thomas, St. Louis Battlehawks (3rd round of OL phase)
  • OL Michael Dunn, Seattle Dragons (6th round of OL phase)
  • DL Anthony Johnson, LA Wildcats (1st round of Front 7 phase)
  • DL Leon Orr, LA Wildcats (6th round of Front 7 phase)
  • OL Terry Poole, Houston Roughnecks (2nd round of OL phase)
  • DL Joey Mbu, New York Guardians (2nd round of Front 7 phase)
  • RB Kenneth Farrow, Seattle Dragons (2nd round of Skill phase)

The XFL’s league draft will finish today with two additional phases, including an open draft in the final phase to help teams fully fill out their rosters. Several other former Dolphins could hear their names called during that window.
