Numerous Bulldogs set to play in prime-time NFL openers

Yesterday, the NFL announced a couple of the opening games to the 2019 NFL season. On Thursday Night Football, September 5th, the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers. The NFL Kickoff Game will feature Bears’ linebackers Roquan Smith and Leonard Floyd, along with WR Javon Wims, each of whom had an outstanding career at the University of Georgia. The Packers currently have no former Georgia Bulldogs, but may target a couple in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The second game the NFL announced for 2019: the New England Patriots open at home vs. a to be determined opponent on Sunday Night Football. The Patriots feature RB Sony Michel, C David Andrews, and LT Isaiah Wynn. Wynn is looking to make his NFL debut after sitting out 2018 with a torn Achilles. The Patriots are considering drafting another UGA prospect after double-dipping on Dawgs in the first round last season.

Notably, Bill Belichick spurned Ohio State’s Pro Day to attend Georgia’s Pro Day last week.

Fans can expect the NFL to release the 2019 schedule this April. It should be released before the NFL Draft.
