A number of prison staff at Wheatfield have tested positive for Covid-19 it has been confirmed.
An outbreak of coronavirus reported at the prison in Clondalkin in Dublin has led to a number of staff testing positive for the virus.
The Irish Prison Service said in a statement that they were working with the HSE and that contact tracing was currently underway.
There has been no reported positive cases of coronavirus among prisoners to date.
A statement from the Irish Prison Service said: The Irish Prison Service can confirm a number of staff have tested positive for Covid-19 in Wheatfield Prison.

"The Irish Prison Service is working closely with Public Health, HSE and contact tracing is ongoing.
There are no positive cases among the prisoner population to date. As a precaution, the Irish Prison Service, in conjunction with the HSE will test all prisoners and all staff.
"Another test will be scheduled on day 7 for all prisoners and all staff. This second stage of testing will support a more comprehensive result and assist in a more normal return to prison regimes.
"An Outbreak Control Team (OCT) has been established to agree and oversee the appropriate actions to be taken to mitigate against further possible spread of the disease within the prison."
