Number of people testing positive for Covid in West Dunbartonshire increases

The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in West Dunbartonshire has increased by 49 in over a week.

Statistics between September 30 and October 6 showed a total of 123 positive cases across the region.

But the latest figures between October 10 and October 16 reveal 172 positive tests – an increase of 49.

In that time, there were 193.4 cases per 100,000 in West Dunbartonshire – higher than the Scottish average of 131.7.

A Public Health Scotland heatmap breaks West Dunbartonshire into small areas with a colour code showing the regions being hit with the most cases.

The majority of the area is shaded in red, which represents the highest severity of cases at over 100 cases per 100,000 people.

Jamestown and Old Bonhil is shaded in orange, with between 75 and 99 cases per 100,0000 people and Dumbarton West has less cases still with between 50 and 74.

Balloch North East, Haldane and Gartocharn have the smallest number of positive cases in the region, between 30 and 49 per 100,000 people.
