Number of people 'pinged' by Covid app falls across all areas of Notts

The number of people sent a test and trace alert via the NHS Covid-19 app continues to fall across all areas of Nottinghamshire.

Back in July urgent reform was advised amid soaring levels of people being 'pinged', advising them they must self-isolate for up to 10 days, as businesses struggled to operate and their recovery took a hit.

While contact tracing alerts were and still are vital in preventing the spread of the virus, many argued the old system was not fit for purpose amid the successful rollout of the vaccine.

As a result the Government issued new advice in that those pinged by the app no longer had to isolate if they had received both doses of the jab.

While some areas are still experiencing high rates of infection, including Nottinghamshire as a whole upon 313 new cases (a 10% rise) in the week to August 18, the number of people pinged in every borough and district continues on a downward trajectory.

For example, in Nottingham, 2,026 people were sent a contact tracing alert in the week to August 11 (the latest available data).

This was down from the previous week (to August 4) when 2,667 people were pinged.

It is a similar picture across the county.

The number of people pinged in the week ending August 11/week ending August 4:

Nottingham: 2,026/2,667

Ashfield: 777/1,127

Bassetlaw: 517/715

Broxtowe: 611/742

Gedling: 618/859

Mansfield: 822/1,106

Newark and Sherwood: 592/771

Rushcliffe: 544/723
