Number of coronavirus cases in Lothian area hit 111 after overnight increase of 23

There are now 111 confirmed coronavirus cases in the Lothian area – an increase of 23 on yesterday's number.

The number of positive tests in Fife has increased by 11 to 40 while in Forth Valley there are now 75 confirmed cases.

A total of 894 confirmed coronavirus cases have now been confirmed across Scotland, with lockdown measures remaining in place. More than 11,000 tests have been carried out.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed earlier today that three more people had died as a result of the virus in Scotland – taking the total number of deaths in the country to 25.

She also outlined how new powers would be granted to police meaning they'd have the ability to enforce social distancing rules in public. Anyone seen breaking these rules could be sent home or fined.
