'Number of children' struck by car on busy Scots street as emergency services rush to scene

A number of children are believed to have been struck by a car on a busy street in South Lanarkshire.

Emergency services have rushed to James Street in Carluke, at its junction with Kirkton Street, after the alarm was raised shortly after 3pm this afternoon, Wednesday October, 27.

Mercy crews are currently at the scene - including 10 ambulances - and specialist trauma teams.

It's not know if anyone has been seriously injured, and locals are being told to stay away from the area.

Road closures are in place.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 15:07hrs to attend a road traffic collision on Kirkton Street, Carluke.

"We’ve dispatched 10 resources to the scene, and the incident is still ongoing."

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
