Number of cases of coronavirus in UK reaches 206

The number of people confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK has reached 206, according to the UK Department of Health.

The updated figure is an increase of 43 cases in the last day.

To date more than 21,000 people have been tested for the virus in the UK and confirmed negative.

On Thursday it was confirmed a woman in her 70s became the first person in the UK to have died from the virus.

The following day a man in his 80s died from the virus after testing positive at Milton Keynes Hospital.

Both were said to have underlying health conditions.

The majority of UK cases to have occurred so far have been in England.

London has the highest number of cases followed by south east England and south west England.

Just two cases have been identified in Wales.

The Government has said the UK remains in the containment phase of its coronavirus action plan.

It has advised elderly people to visit their relatives now in case "social distancing" policies are brought in to help contain the spread of the virus.
