A councillor is urging the local authority to address the rising numbers of seagulls amid concerns over nuisance.
John Millar said the gull population appears to be increasing and has raised worries over the impact on residents.
He has tabled a motion which will be heard at a full council meeting on August 26.
The issue has been well documented over the years, with birds swooping on residents during the breeding season and leaving their mess on cars and homes.
West Dunbartonshire Council introduced a service in 2014 for gulls nesting on domestic properties, which relies on homeowners contacting the local authority to remove nests and eggs from rooftops at the start of the breeding season.
The Leven councillor said: “Council is concerned that the gull population seems to be increasing and if accurate then this could lead to increases in nuisance.
“Council calls on the chief executive to write to the Scottish Government to establish whether there is anything that can be done in partnership with local councils to manage the number of gulls and reduce their impact on our communities.”
He added the the council should also promote the service ahead of next year’s breeding season.
