Steve Bruce admits he's missing football but has a unique way of keeping busy

Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce admits that he'd rather be working with his players at the club's Benton training ground but is trying his hand at new chores to keep him busy.

It's been just under a month since the Magpies took the move to completely shut-down their training ground amid the coronavirus, and Bruce, like his players, has been working at home.

His squad have been given individual fitness plans and using GPS trackers - are kept under tabs to ensure they stick to their schedules.

Bruce meanwhile, after returning to a farm property he owns in Cheshire, has taken up tasks around the home to pass the time - including a bit of farming.

"I've been busy on the tractor turning the land over," he told the Daily Star.

"And I'll be busy over the next few weeks, doing the house up as well.

"I'd far rather be at the Newcastle training ground with my staff and the players.

"But this gives me the opportunity to do something completely different."

As of yet, there is no return date for the Premier League with the peak of the coronavirus still expected to strike the UK in the weeks to come.

The club have put non-essential and non-playing staff on furlough leave, while discussions on a reduction on players' wages continue.
