Nudists spark police anger - for refusing to wear face masks during pandemic

Czech nudists have fallen foul of police - because they ignored rules saying they have to wear face masks.

Although laws in the Czech Republic say it is ok to be naked in some designated public places, not wearing a mask during the Covid-19 pandemic is definitely not ok.

The country has imposed strict laws saying that people need to cover their mouths in an effort to prevent the deadly bug spreading.

Police had to issue a statement to this effect after officers in the town of Lázně Bohdaneč, east of Prague, spotted nudists enjoying themselves in the sun without covering their faces.

In a statement issued on March 27, CNN reports, officials said: "Unfortunately, many of the sunbathing citizens were gathered in large groups, and some were not wearing face masks.

"Upon the arrival of the police, everyone agreed to respect the government regulation [that face shields are compulsory outside the home].

"Citizens are allowed to be without clothes in designated locations, but they still must cover their mouths, and only gather in appropriate numbers."

Happily they seem to have paid attention, as police said the situation had improved in a subsequent message.

There have been 5,735 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 123 deaths in the Czech Republic up to this point.
