Nuclear power plant 'incident' warning in Canada sent to mobile phones 'in error'

An alert warning of an “incident” at a nuclear power plant in Canada was sent by mistake.

Notifications were sent out to mobile phones in the state of Ontario scenario saying that emergency services were responding to a “situation” at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Information Centre, 20 miles from downtown Toronto.

The initial warning also noted that there had been no abnormal release of radiation, and those notified did not need to take protective action.

But the Ontario Power Generation later announced the warning “was sent in error.

There is no danger to the public or environment”.
