The developer of a £12bn nuclear project on Anglesey has applied to extend planning permission on highways works to enable a "swift restart" to the scheme in the future.
Wylfa Newydd was suspended by Horizon Nuclear Power in January last year after Japanese parent company Hitachi failed to reach a funding deal with the UK government under Theresa May.
But they continued with their Development Consent Order - with a decision on that put back by the Uk Government to September.
Now Horizon is seeking an extension to its planning consent for online highway improvements to the A5025, work that would be needed to support the construction and operation of Wylfa Newydd.
Permission was originally granted for the online A5025 improvements by Anglesey County Council in 2018 but this is due to expire in July.
An Horizon spokesman said: "We’re now seeking an extension to the permission to July 2023 from the Isle of Anglesey County Council.
"We’re doing this now to enable a swift restart should Wylfa Newydd be granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) by UK Government later in 2020 and if the right funding model is in place."
