A 61-year-old man has been dismissed from the NT Police Force after printing singlets with an offensive reference to the fatal police shooting in Yuendumu late last year.
The officer had been suspended without pay since April this year after printing singlets with the words "Don't wanna get shot … Don't stab a cop!" and referring to the hashtag "Blue lives matter", a reference to the Black Lives Matter movement.
The phrase was a reference to the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker in the remote central Australian community of Yuendumu in November last year.
NT Police Constable Zachary Rolfe was charged with one count of murder over the shooting.
In a statement, NT Police said the 61-year-old officer had been dismissed for serious breaches of discipline following an internal investigation.
At the time of the male police officer's suspension, Assistant Commissioner Michael White said his actions were "unacceptable."
"For a serving officer to be involved in this behaviour brings disrepute to the entire police force," he said.
The statement released at the time of the officer's suspension said he had been "allegedly responsible for the production and distribution of clothing that displayed highly inappropriate content."
The 61-year-old is the fourth NT Police officer to be dismissed in the past two months.
Raymond Neilson-Scott was dismissed in May after he was convicted of aggravated assault.
The following day, two officers from Central Australia were also dismissed after separate incidents.
The NT Police have been contacted for comment.
