A woman has died and a man has been left with serious injuries in a crash outside the remote community of Maningrida in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory Police say.
Police in Maningrida, a large remote community in Arnhem Land situated about 500 kilometres east of Darwin, responded to a report of a crash just after 10am on Saturday morning, according to a statement from NT Police.
Police said the crash site was 16 kilometres outside the town.
On arrival, officers found a woman trapped inside the sedan, but she later died at the scene, police said.
Police said a man with serious injuries, who was also found in the sedan, was transported to the nearby health clinic for treatment.
The driver of the truck, according to police, did not suffer any physical injuries in the incident.
In a statement, police said the Major Crash Investigations Unit were investigating the crash.
Road diversions are now in place in the area, and motorists are urged to proceed with caution in the area, police said.
