NSWRL hit Koroisau with fine for breach

Api Koroisau's code of conduct breach before State of Origin II will cost him another $15,000. (AAP)

Apisai Koroisau's State of Origin future is in doubt after the NSWRL slapped him with a $15,000 fine for breaching the code of conduct during Blues camp this series.

It comes on top of the $35,000 fine and two-match suspension handed down by the NRL for breaching COVID-19 protocols ahead of Origin II last month.

Koroisau is alleged to have brought a woman into the team's hotel in Brisbane shortly after biosecurity protocols were increased due to a COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney.

It has now cost the Penrith hooker $50,000, two NRL games and potentially another Blues jersey.

After making his NSW debut in game three of the series, any future selection will hinge on Koroisau proving to the NSWRL he can be trusted.

"When a player is selected to represent the NSW Blues, the player is placed into a privileged position whereby he or she is trusted by the board to uphold all of the standards, protocols and values of NSWRL," said NSWRL chief executive David Trodden in a statement on Wednesday.

"The board is extremely disappointed that in this case, the trust which was placed in Koroisau has been breached.

"If the board is to consider further recommendations for his selection in NSW teams, it will need to be convinced he has earned the right to be once again trusted to uphold all of the standards, protocols and values of NSWRL."

Koroisau has 14 days to respond to the breach notice, but if agreed upon, the fine will be donated to PCYC.
