A youth worker is accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl on the NSW Central Coast.

Detectives from the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad investigated reports a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man while in his care.

They arrested a 26-year-old man at Belmont Police Station on Tuesday and charged him with three counts of intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16 years.

Police will allege in court the man sexually touched the girl on numerous occasions between April and August while she was under his care.

He was refused bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday.
