NSW woman's kidnappers 'filmed assault'

Police have arrested two people in connection with the kidnapping of a woman in the Hunter region. (AAP)

A woman with an intellectual disability was forced into a shower, beaten and filmed during a kidnapping north of Sydney, police say.

The 20-year-old was allegedly dragged from the passenger seat of a car stopped at a Charlestown intersection about 11.30pm on Wednesday and subjected to a series of assaults in multiple locations.

Police on Friday said they have arrested a man, 37, and a woman, 38, known to the alleged victim.

The accused pair remain in custody ahead of facing Belmont Local Court.

After being forced into her attackers' car, the 20-year-old woman was allegedly repeatedly assaulted and had her credit cards stolen.

The alleged assaults continued until the car arrived at a home in Windale, where she was forced into a shower.

Footage of the subsequent shower assault was allegedly put on social media, alerting police.

Officers found the injured woman at the Windale home, being treated by paramedics.

The accused pair were arrested on Thursday and charged with seven offences including assault, intimidation, kidnapping and filming a private act without consent.

The man was also charged with two breaches of an apprehended violence order.
