There's more upheaval at the NSW Waratahs with long-time chairman Roger Davis moving on at the end of the month.
The NSW Rugby Union announced on Monday that Davis would not stand for re-election and will resign from the board of directors at the club's annual general meeting on May 31.
Davis says that after 12 years on the board, nine of them as chairman, now was the right time to retire.
While he has presided over a successful period including the Waratahs' only Super Rugby championship-winning year in 2014, Davis departs with NSW at their lowest ebb in history.
The Waratahs are without a head coach after sacking Rob Penney midway through their only ever winless Super Rugby campaign.
In addition to coming last in the domestic competition, NSW are struggling desperately with a player shortage after an exodus of almost 2000 caps of Super Rugby experience over the past two years.
"While rugby has faced some serious headwinds over the last few years, I think at club and state level, NSW is at the beginning of a new and sustained period of success," Davis said.
Chief executive Paul Doorn, who replaced Andrew Hore last year, faces a massive talk rebuilding the club.
The board has selected Tony Crawford to succeed Davis and will formally vote to confirm his appointment on 1 June, after the AGM.
Crawford has been a director of the NSWRU since 2018 and has longstanding connections in both the rugby and business communities.
After a 30-year career as a lawyer, he has served as an independent non-executive director for over a decade and is currently chairman of HBF Health Limited, Heart Research Australia and Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW.
Previously Crawford was chairman of Grant Thornton Australia and CEO at DLA Phillips Fox.
Crawford has a strong association with Sydney club rugby, serving since 2010 as a director then as president of Northern Suburbs Rugby Club for seven years.
He also played the game for 20 years and coached junior rugby.
