Gladys Berejiklian says there were seven more COVID-19 cases in New South Wales over the past 24 hours, all of them linked to the northern beaches.
She says many of the positive cases were returned late in the quarantine process.
Here’s a summary of what happened on Sunday:
- NSW recorded seven new cases of COVID-19.
- Six of those cases are directly linked to the Avalon cluster, and five of those are already in isolation.
- A man in Melbourne and a woman in Perth were arrested after attempting to escape hotel quarantine.
- Victoria recorded no new coronavirus cases, and one case in an overseas traveller.
- Queensland recorded no new coronavirus cases.
- The new variant of COVID-19, initially found in the UK, has now spread to more countries, including France, Japan and Canada.
