NSW premier on international trade tour

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet is taking a trade mission to Japan, South Korea and India to spruik his state and attract more international investment.

Mr Perrottet hopes to "seize the moment" as global trade starts to hit speed.

"The pandemic has slowed global trade relations, but NSW is open for business," he said.

The trade mission wants to see overseas businesses pump more money into growing markets, including clean energy technology.

"These are the economic opportunities that will create high quality jobs for current and future generations, but only if we seize the moment," Mr Perrottet said.

But the trade mission also wants to boost tourism numbers and plug NSW's education sector to an international audience.

Mr Perrottet's first stop is Japan on Thursday, where he'll visit Tokyo and Hiroshima, before heading to the South Korean capital of Seoul.

India will mark the end of the journey with the premier to be joined by NSW Trade Minister Stuart Ayres as he visits Mumbai and Bengaluru.

"NSW is poised to make the most of the immense opportunities between our two nations," Mr Ayres said.

The trade jaunt wraps up on July 29.

It marks Mr Perrottet's first overseas trip as premier since replacing Gladys Berejiklian last year, but also the first for a NSW premier since the COVID-19 pandemic saw Australia's borders shut.
