NSW Police search Ibrahim home following shooting of family bodyguard

NSW Police search the streets outside Ibrahim family home

NSW Police are raiding several properties across Sydney's south-west as they investigate the shooting of long-time Ibrahim bodyguard Semi Ngata.

The 59-year-old, who's also known as Tongan Sam, was shot in the back outside the western Sydney family home of nightclub identity John Ibrahim on Friday night.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police are conducting a number of searches along suburban streets as they investigate the shooting, and are currently searching the Ibrahim home on Price street in Merrylands.

The ABC has been told no arrests are expected in relation to the raids.

On Saturday, NSW Police described the shooting as "brazen" and "targeted".

A crime scene was set up at the Ibrahim family home, where a police source told the ABC preparations were underway for a wedding between Mr Ibrahim's nephew Sam and Aisha Mehajer, the sister of former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer.

Police also seized two guns from nearby Mays Hill on Saturday, where a second crime scene had been set up after Subaru was found burnt out.

Forensic officers spent several hours in the garage and the back of the home on Patricia Street and removed up to 10 bags of evidence.

Police appeal for information

Earlier this week, detectives investigating the shooting appealed for public help after linking a stolen car to the incident.

Police say one of two Subaru's stolen from a property in Pemulwuy in October may have been used during the shooting.

The dark blue WRX was found burnt out in the nearby suburb of Mays Hill a short time later.
