NSW man falls three metres through roof

A Blue Mountains man has been airlifted to the Royal North Shore Hospital by CareFlight. (AAP)

A Blue Mountains man is fighting for his life after crashing through his roof and falling three metres into his bathroom.

The man in his 70s is in a critical condition with injuries to his chest and back.

The CareFlight helicopter medical team was called to the Wentworth Falls home on Wednesday afternoon and treated the man at the scene before airlifting him to Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital.

CareFlight says medics were forced to give the man a blood transfusion mid-air before intubating him and placing him in an induced coma to stabilise him.
