The man accused of murdering a 71-year-old woman in a home west of Sydney has been remanded in custody.
The woman's body was found in the bedroom of a Katoomba home on Tuesday.
Heinz Ratke, who is known to the woman, was located unresponsive and taken to hospital.
He was charged with her murder after being discharged from hospital on Wednesday.
The 73-year-old made no application for bail when the case was mentioned before magistrate Brian van Zuylen in Penrith Local Court on Thursday morning.
Prosecutors were ordered to serve the brief of evidence by the time Ratke is next due before the court on February 19.
