A NSW man has been charged with fraudulently obtaining more than $100,000 worth of bushfire support recovery grants.

Earlier this year, detectives investigated allegedly fraudulent claims for bushfire disaster relief and small business grants through government agencies.

They charged a 50-year-old man at Port Macquarie police station on Wednesday with 10 counts of dishonestly obtaining financial benefit by deception and 11 counts of attempting to dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

Police will allege in court the man fraudulently obtained 11 NSW government grants, receiving a total of $110,000 and attempted to get a further 10 NSW government grants totalling $100,000.

The man, from the state's mid-north coast, was bail refused to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday.
