A coronavirus-infected NSW man who sparked a three-day lockdown in southern Tasmania is facing criminal charges for allegedly leaving hotel quarantine without permission.
Timothy Andrew Gunn, 31, is accused of failing to comply with the lawful direction of an emergency management worker and knowingly providing false or misleading information.
It is alleged Gunn failed to quarantine at the Travelodge hotel in Hobart's CBD for 14 days as directed and left on or about October 11.
Gunn later tested positive to COVID-19, which prompted the state government to implement a snap lockdown on the evening of October 15.
Gunn is also accused of falsely telling an emergency management worker he had only been in Queensland in the 14 days before he arrived in Hobart.
He has also been charged with a drug offence and breaching a nationally recognised domestic violence order.
He is accused of spending time with a woman at an address and Woolworths supermarket in Hobart's northern suburbs.
Gunn appeared in Hobart Magistrates Court via video link on Tuesday afternoon.
He didn't apply for bail and was remanded in custody to appear in person on November 12.
The court was told he was likely to face further domestic violence-related charges.
