NSW:'Inadequate': police response to fatal DV attack lashed

Police have been criticised for the flawed response to a brutal domestic violence attack that involved officers remaining at the scene for a few minutes without getting out of their car.

Lindy "Kimmy" Lucena, 64, died from her injuries after being beaten by her partner of five years, Robert Karl Huber, on January 3, 2023 at Ballina, in northern NSW.

The Law Enforcement Conduct Commission on Tuesday tabled a report into the police response to the attack, finding there was no evidence of serious misconduct by any officer but the overall response to the incident was inadequate.

On the night of the fatal attack, a triple-zero call at 7pm described a woman being bashed behind the Salvation Army building in Ballina.
