NSW hits 70 per cent double vaccinated target

70 per cent double vaccination rate for over 16's achieved in NSW on October 6, 2021

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet announced NSW has hit the 70 per cent double vaccination target for people aged over 16 on Wednesday evening.

The Premier made the announcement on social media adding that 'some restrictions will ease on Monday, October 11'.

On a post on Facebook he said: "Bam. We've hit 70% of over-16s double vaccinated in NSW. This is great news and big step closer to a full reopening and a proper summer."

Reaching the 70 per cent vaccination target means the state is on track for an easing of restrictions on October 11. The initial stage of NSW's roadmap to reopening will involve a unification of the rules across all NSW. While it means greater freedom for many, for others in regional NSW it will mean greater restrictions imposed on unvaccinated people.

Earlier on Wednesday, NSW recorded 10 deaths and 594 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19.

You can see below how other states are performing in the vaccination race.
