NSW Government reveals infrastructure plan for next 20 years

The upcoming by-elections are just three months after Gladys Berejiklian became NSW Premier.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has unveiled the state's infrastructure strategy for the next 20 years.

Every five years, the State Government outlines its key infrastructure projects it plans to deliver, and this time the Western Harbour Tunnel, Beaches Link, F6 extension, Sydney Metro West and North-South rail link in western Sydney top the list.

The strategy also includes a desire to trial demand ferry services in Sydney Harbour and upgrade public transport along Parramatta and Victoria Roads.

In terms of rail, the State Government wants to improve services along the Richmond line, explore setting up a link between Hurstville and Macquarie Park via Rhodes and connecting greater Parramatta with Epping and Kogarah.

The Premier said when the Government promises a project, it delivers.

"Of the more than 700 projects linked to the 2012 plan, over 430 are complete, 200 are under construction and the rest are in the planning stage," she said.

Those projects include the WestConnex Motorway, Sydney Metro and light rail.

Schools and hospitals before stadiums: Labor

Labor had continued to question the NSW government's strategy on stadiums.

Opposition Leader Luke Foley hit out at Ms Berejikilian's infrastructure plan, saying she had the "wrong priorities".

Mr Foley boarded a campaign bus — the Schools and Hospitals Before Stadiums bus — to tour around key state elections.

"With a $2.7 billion dollar splurge on two new stadiums, it's the wrong priority for a state when when tens of thousands are sitting in demountables," he said.
